About the production
By invitation, Chia-Hui performed her Butterfly Orchid at the opening ceremony of Art Taipei. Butterfly Orchid is a new way of performing art. It is an avant-garde production created to elevate the artistry of performing art. It is a fantasy about being trapped by love, transforming for love and the final ultimate sacrifice for devoted love. It melds a piano music with animated artwork. Paintings from artist, Paul Chiang were used as the foundation from which 3D multimedia animation techniques catalyze the art to life. Through the combination of romantic music with multimedia technology and contemporary/abstract moving art, diverse styles are revealed to present a dramatic music-based performing art that is a banquet for the senses.
BUTTERFLY ORCHID is a story about devoted love, with the butterfly representing love and hope. Wherever the butterfly rests, there is hope and chance. Where there is love there is a heaven and one will feel reborn again. Through this innovative production, Chia-Hui hopes to elegantly unite the human emotions of Love and Affection.
About BUTTERFLY ORCHID
Taiwan has over 300 species of orchids and over 400 species of butterflies and hence Taiwan is known as the kingdom of orchids and butterflies. Upon visiting the Botanical Garden at Tainan, Chia-Hui was drawn to the Psychopsis Kalihi Orchid. Nicknamed the “Devil Orchid”, it is quite enchanting in its resemblance of a butterfly and a dancer. After her visit, that evening, Chia-Hui had a vivid dream that was so touching that she felt compelled to record. In the dream, a beautiful butterfly specimen was captured and was about to be framed. But a scientist seeing the beauty of the butterfly sets her free. The butterfly in turn was so moved that she prayed to the god of the universe to allow her to become human so that she may thank the scientist. Her god granted her wish and she was transformed into a beautiful young lady. Having approached the scientist, she fell deeply in love with him. But the scientist’s heart was devoted to his work, so he did not reciprocate his love. In distraught, the lady turned once again to her god. She realizes that the scientist that she loves was a botanist and that he was obsessed with his research and desires to develop the most special sample of orchids. So, she prayed to her god once again asking to become the most unique and beautiful orchid in the world. Her god warned her that if she becomes an orchid, she will remain in an immobile state for the rest of life and that will be her last transformation. She consented and became the result of the botanist’s latest work; a one of a kind beautiful orchid that depicts a fairy like image with captivating wings. With his new work, the botanist’s unique orchid took first place in world competitions and the orchid became known as the “Queen of Orchids”. The botanist has achieved his dream and now obsesses daily with his new orchid. And the butterfly orchid has fulfilled her desire to be with the botanist.

關於
盧佳慧受邀表演於2020台北國際藝術博覽會開幕日記者會，盧佳慧演奏自己製作譜曲之跨界多媒體鋼琴幻想曲《蝴蝶蘭》，即時搭配3D動畫，影片內容採畫家江賢二老師三系列作品，《德布西-鍵盤》、《乘著歌聲的翅膀》、《比西里岸之夢》，重新創作成立體動畫。結合多媒體科技藝術，揉合抽象的古典音樂及具象的當代美術，盧佳慧將其音樂夢想幻畫成真。
跨界實驗路
江老師常以樂佐畫，音樂是他重要的靈感。綜觀老師之作，中西合併，簡約、大器、多元，抽象有時、具象有時、從黑白到彩色，皆畫中有樂。《蝴蝶蘭》將畫作分解、排列、重組、重製，無縫接軌，思緒千絲萬縷，百轉千迴。
《蝴蝶蘭》
為情所困 為愛所變
此曲是盧佳慧參訪台南蘭科植物園，為園中酷似蝴蝶又像舞孃的「蛾型文心蘭」一見傾心。參觀隔夜做了場夢，醒後宛如受託般譜下此曲。
夢境大意為：美麗蝴蝶遭捕，製為標本之際，被植物學家搶救。蝴蝶向萬物之神祈求化為人形以求報恩。幻化為女兒身後的她對恩人用情甚深，怎奈植物學家早已心有所屬，於是，再度哀求萬物之神將她變身為植物學家專研之絕美蘭花。於是再度變身的她為全球最獨特之蝴蝶蘭，被奉為蘭花之后；而植物學家也為蝴蝶蘭眷戀不已，終於如償夙願！
如夢似幻
從小屢做連環夢、天馬行空的我，看見江老師想像無限的「乘著歌聲的翅膀」、專屬鋼琴的「鍵盤」及浪漫唯美的「比西里岸之夢」等畫作時，就有種非常強烈的熟悉感，且一見傾心，老師的畫作能象徵蝴蝶那懵懂的愛情和蛻變。作品動畫整合後與音樂《蝴蝶蘭》相佐，彷如天生一對！
